In the showroom: Guidi men’s F/W 13/14

I know that spring has just arrived but let’s go back a few months, and more specifically to men’s fashion week in Paris. I had the chance to take a peek at leather manufacturer Guidis showroom and view what they have in store for Fall/Winter 13/14. It was fascinating hearing about different leathers that they use, and more over about the story of how each shoe and bag is made using traditional manufacturing and tanning processes. On top of the classic reproductions of the back zip boots, this season Guidi introduced a metal reinforced heel on the derby model, and a shoe which we were told to derive from traditional Japanese working shoes (see picture three). On the bag front, the backpacks were the ones that caught my attention, especially in the beautiful white leather. The color scheme of the collection was a combination of very natural earthy colors and deep red, some models even had a mixture of two tones with colored tow boxes and heels – definitely an interesting new direction from Guidi.

After show

Greetings from Paris! During the past weekend I attended once again men’s fashion week for S/S13 and had a great time visiting shows and showrooms, which from more picture material to come very soon on Flux. But before all that, here is one little after show action walking back from the JuunJ. presentation which was held at the garden of Galerie de Minéralogie.

In the showroom: OBSCUR S/S12 collection

Last summer I had the privilege of visiting the OBSCUR showroom in Paris and see what Spring /Summer 2012 looked like. This beautifully crafted collection featured light weight basics made of Japanese organic cotton and rustic looking linen jackets, without forgetting the typical to OBSCUR leather goods such as jackets with a new moldable collar and an oversize zippered bag. Designer Richard Söderberg‘s idea was to make the garments like an armor, protecting their bearer but still keeping them wearable. OBSCUR S/S12 will become available early next year.

Paris men’s fashion week: Boris Bidjan Saberi S/S12

This season Boris Bidjan Saberi takes us to a city of dust, as the earthy tones and long lean silhouettes make you instantly think of a desert warrior. The collection consisted of lengthy tops, structured blazers, hoods, relaxed bottom parts and interesting shoe designs. All elements known to be part of Boris’ aesthetics. The color scheme was a perfect blend of black and various tones of brown, with a subtle hint of grey. Overall a very cohesive and wearable collection with a few surprise elements from Boris Bidjan Saberi.
