Showroom

Last summer I had the privilege of visiting the OBSCUR showroom in Paris and see what the OBSCUR S/S12 looked like. This beautifully crafted collection featured light weight basics made of Japanese organic cotton, rustic looking Japanese linen jackets, lots of typical to OBSCUR leather goods, such as jackets with a new moldable collar and an oversize zippered bag. The designer Richard Söderberg‘s idea was to make the garments like an armor, protecting their wearer but still keep them wearable. Having tried on the garments myself, I think he succeeded spot on. OBSCUR S/S12 will become available early next year.

During the Paris men’s fashion week I had the chance to visit the showroom of OBSCUR, a Swedish label run by my good friend Richard Söderberg. His latest collection, inspired by the cold winters of Scandinavia, was present in a beautiful old Paris building with gothic romantic surroundings, coherently complementing the mood of the collection. OBSCUR’s autumn/winter 2011/2012 consists of tailored winter coats, blazers with attached gloves, structured pants, worn out looking boots, and soft leathers which the label is most known for. A lot of beautiful pieces which I would not mind owning myself.

On our last day in Paris we visited the showroom again and after snapping a few pictures, I decided to make a little video to get more into the vibe of this intriguing presentation. Here are the results of that day. A big hand goes to Peter for editing the footage.

On Tuesday my long wait was over, as the time for the Affordable Luxury collection for Lindex launch party in Helsinki came, and I finally got to try on the clothes that had been on my mind ever since I came out of the press conference in March. Three of us Indiedays bloggers (including myself, Niina and Aurora) got to choose our favorites from the collection which  literally made me feel like a kid in a candy store.

Being a big fan of contrasts and often playing with the masculine and feminine, soft and hard – this collection seemed to have it all. The black  mesh tunic was of course an obvious choice for me, as were the harem shorts. I had also picked up a few other garments but will introduce those later.

If you want to see more of the collection and my first ever video interview with Ewa Larsson, the mastermind behind this amazing collection, do check the Lindex showroom for more info.
